Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
These Terms of Use apply to your use of Herb Gardening (“the site”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
What the site provides
The site publishes free guides about growing culinary herbs outdoors, for general information and personal enjoyment. We work to keep the guides clear and accurate, but we do not promise that every guide is free of errors or that you will get a particular result by following it. Plants are living things, and how one grows depends on the variety, the soil, the sun it gets, the weather, the season and the climate where you live. Hardiness zones are a rough guide, and planting times depend on your local frost dates. The guides describe what to check and what usually helps; they are not a diagnosis of your plant, and time estimates are approximate.
Gardening information at your own risk
The content on the site is general gardening information. It is not professional horticultural advice for your particular garden, and it is not a substitute for advice from someone who can see your plants and your site. You follow the guides at your own risk, and you are responsible for deciding whether a suggestion suits your garden, including working safely with tools, soil and garden products.
No medical advice
The site does not give medical, nutritional or veterinary advice, and it makes no health claims about herbs. Herbs are covered here as garden plants and as food flavoring only. Questions about your health, your diet or an animal in your care belong with a qualified professional, not with a gardening website.
Identify plants before you eat them
Identify a plant correctly before you eat anything you grow. Seedlings and mature plants of different species can look alike, labels get mixed up, and plants you did not sow can come up in a bed or a pot. If you are not sure what a plant is, do not eat it. You are responsible for what you choose to eat and to serve to others.
Product labels
If you use a fertilizer, a pest-control product or any other garden product mentioned in a guide, read the product label and follow it. The label on the product you bought takes priority over anything written on this site, including its directions on amounts, protective gear, storage, whether it may be used on edible plants and how long to wait before harvesting.
Using our content
Unless stated otherwise, the text, illustrations and design of the site belong to Herb Gardening. You are welcome to:
- read, print and use the guides for personal, classroom, library or other non-commercial purposes;
- share a link to any page;
- quote short passages with a clear credit and a link back to the original page.
Please do not republish whole guides or illustrations, sell them, or present them as your own work without written permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the site. This includes attempting to gain unauthorized access, interfering with how the site works, sending spam or unlawful content through the contact form, or copying the site in bulk by automated means beyond what is needed for normal search engine indexing.
External links
The guides link to third-party reference pages, mostly publications from university extension services, that we think are useful. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, Herb Gardening is not liable for any loss, damage or harm arising from your use of the site or from following its guides, including the loss of a plant or a crop and harm to a person or an animal. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how information is handled when you use the site.

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
